Don't be shy!

3/31/2011

Just got back from an out-of-town school visit last night and spent a little bit of time looking at the statistics for my website... Over the past two days I've had nearly 10 times as many hits as my average. This means one of three things:

1) I have inexplicably garnered a much larger following out of the clear blue sky
2) My mom has bought 10 times as many computers as she should have and regularly checks out my site to make me feel proud
3) My new Armenian friends from Hollywood have discovered my site and are giving it a glimpse

Like I say above, DON'T BE SHY! If you are someone I have met in person--or not--please send me a contact email with feedback, thoughts, introductions, WHATEVER. Also, find me on Facebook. Part of finding success in the writing industry is making connections and building a following. I appreciate any and all interest in what I am doing here, even if it just a quick look at this site.

If you're reading this and thinking, "Damn, he caught me," then Facebook me or contact me in some other way immediately.

I look forward to hearing from many more of you!

Peace,
Louie

Reading this Saturday! 7:00 pm, The Book Works

Please come to a live reading this Saturday at The Book Works in Del Mar, CA. At 7:00 PM, as part of SDSU's MFA Alumni Weekend, six writers (including me) will give listeners a sample of our work. Please come, grab a cup of coffee, and be a part of the experience! E-mail me with questions.

Also, I have had two stories published this week in "The Daily Aztec" at SDSU. Both were edited (responsibly in some places, irresponsibly in most--more on that later), but it was nice to have a forum for my writing to go public. If you do not have access to "The Daily Aztec," you can check it out at www.thedailyaztec.com or, if you would rather read the unfiltered originals, go to my "short fiction" tab and read "Canciones para los padres" and "A Shooting or

"Canciones para los padres" and "A Shooting or Fallen Star" both revised and re-posted.

A new poem, titled "Nothing," has been published on the "poetry" page. Check it out!

LIVE READING! Updated Story...

ATTENTION!
March 19th at 7:00 pm I will be doing a live reading at "The Book Works" in Del Mar, CA. The store is located off of Via de la Valle. I urge all of you (since I know this blog reaches millions of readers) to set aside your plans for that Saturday evening temporarily and come to support me. I will be opening with three other SDSU MFA students for two better-known authors. My reading will be the first in the group and should last for approximately five minutes. Please come support!

Also, "Canciones para los padres" has been revised and updated. After workshopping the story, I smoothed out a few kinks (included the fact that my Spanish was off in the title and NO ONE LET ME KNOW!). I hope you enjoy the final version, which should hopefully be published sometime next week in "The Daily Aztec" at San Diego State University.

Peace,
Louie
