Great news! The San Diego State University news publication, "The Daily Aztec," has asked permission to publish my two most recent short stories: "Canciones por los padres" and "A Shooting or Fallen Star." Though this is not the New York Times, it is a wonderful start to 2011 and a great opportunity for news of my writing to spread. A friend and fellow writer, Matt Doran, is one of the editors and he is doing an admirable job of changing the Aztec from a paper solely focused on campus news to a source of substance and literature. I am hoping that my writing represents his efforts well.
Also, I had completely forgotten that there was an online version of an interview I gave last July, so check it out! It was a "Features" column in the "El Cid," a campus newspaper from Cathedral Catholic High School. The writer, Andrianna Yeatts, is an impressively intellectual young woman and I am indebted to her for the beautiful way that she represented me in this article. Give it a read! http://www.elcidonline.com/features/2010/07/20/uni-alum-completes-fist-novel/ Pleasant reading and Much Peace! Louie

I just typed a long post out that got deleted, so I'll summarize.
1) I'm writing some standup comedy lately that I plan on keeping in the vault, more or less, until I get drunk enough to try out an open mic night. More details to come. 2) I have added two new, never-before-read stories onto my "short fiction" page. Please check them out and leave feedback on the contact page! One is about a student I used to teach and the other about a philosophical moment I experienced after seeing a shooting star. Peace! Louie |
